| Comments: | I knew Murray through a decade and a half, and had the experience of working with him for almost four years. I took pleasure in that period in learning from him. He had a penetrating and capable mind embracing a wide range of scientific, technical and general interests. He was as capable of discussing old French tapestries as he was frequently at exploring the important realm of object-oriented programming. Most remarkable was his lifelong commitment to the leading/bleeding edge of innovation in information technologies. He turned some bloody edges into leading edges and, with his partner Dick Birley, was on track to establishing a new standard for the applications that bridge the many 'approaches' to the use of software in the development of concrete structures, which, by their character, require the use of reinforced steel, or 'rebar'. The AEC World (architecture, engineering, construction) has lost a very bright light and competent man. I have a lasting image of him in a photograph with Sir Bailey, creator, with colleagues, of the legendary Bailey Bridge that played such a vital role in the last century and still does today. The keenness of his mind was remarkable; he listened carefully, and directed minds into the heart of the matters that had to be dealt with. These were often areas in which the new adventurers of the information technology world were casting a little candlelight forward, seeking a path to useful and productive products and services. |

| Comments: | Let me express my sincere regret and condolence to Tessa and Murray’s family. Murray was a person who changed my life inviting me to Canada. Together with Dick he created a wonderful atmosphere in Condor that helped me to accommodate to a new style of life and grow as a professional. As an intelligent and highly educated man he was capable to see a big picture and generate new ideas to make the future closer. His sense of humour was brilliant! Good by, Murray. We will never forget you! |

| Comments: | I have had the pleasure of meeting Murray only once and was impressed with his wide ranging intellect and presence. His reputation as a prominent engineer preceeded him. Mike has told me much about his father, and at this time I offer my condolences to Murray's family. |

| Comments: | Dad, I've just arrived in Vancouver with my family to say our official good-bye. There is so much to say. I'll start with what your 3 year old granddaughter has to say. She is here to say good-bye to Grandpa and wish you well in Heaven. She bought a card that she wants to throw up really high into the sky so you can get it in Heaven. She thinks we are here for a party to celebrate your life and she is hoping for balloons. She remembers how you read to her every time we visited and she knows her Mommy is very sad to no longer have her Daddy. Your 8 month old Grandson is just really happy to have gotten a chance to meet his grandpa for your 80th birthday celebration last year. He's sorry he was the cause for us being 8 weeks late in celebrating it with you. He will love looking at the photos of you holding him as a baby when he is older. Your youngest daughter and youngest child (me) is having a hard time saying good-bye. Thank you so much for everything you gave me in life - your sense of adventure, romanticism, determination, workaholic nature (that's a good thing), appreciation of art and culture, love of cheese, and a general awareness of the huge opportunities out there in the world. (That's just an abbreviated list) Thank you for teaching me how to reach for the Stars. I'll always carry with me fun memories of you (in no particular order): you cooking banana flambee; you carving the Sunday family dinner meat; you teaching me how to lick the mixing bowl spoons when making cake; my waiting for your return from business trips to see what doll, spoon or cheese you brought back for us; you teaching me to colour outside the lines on paint-by-numbers so I wasn't restricted in my imagination; you taking me to the opera; you telling jokes and stories at the camp-fire; you bringing me to your office on weekends to see your huge main-frame computers and not getting too mad (or red-faced) when I coloured on your punched-card programming cards!; you drawing penquin stories; you giving me advise on picking which University to attend; you giving me very wise travel advise before I left to live in Egypt; and, you reading bed-time stories. You always taught me to finish whatever I started. You finished your life with style and grace. I love you and miss you. Teena (as you spelled it) |

| Comments: | Dick, Thanks so much for letting us know about Murray Lount. I was in Vancouver several years ago and was able to talk to him on the phone, but he was so busy I couldn't get to see him. He was really dedicated to his work which must have made him a good partner for you. I live in California, so we couldn't get together easily. I certainly enjoyed his company at the University of Toronto. He was a great guy! Sorry for your loss. Please give my regards to his family. Sincerely, Gordon Matheson |
